Celebration of Life of Susan Patricia Toews 1951 - 2020LIVE
Obituary of Susan Patricia Toews
It is with mixed emotions that we announce the passing of Susan on Saturday morning, June 20, 2020 at the age of 68 years old after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's. While we are relieved to see her suffering come to an end as she enters the presence of her Lord & Saviour, we already miss her so very much! Susan Patricia Toews was born June 28, 1951 in Montreal, Quebec to Audrey & Earle Worby, the second of four children and their only daughter. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her husband Terry and their children: Kim Potter (& husband Andrew), Starla Ginter & Nathan Toews, along with her grandchildren Cara Ginter, Brady Ginter, Faith Ginter, Jared Potter (& wife Kennedy), Joshua Potter & Jacob Potter, two great grandsons Jonathan & Thomas Potter, sister-in-law Pat, brothers Peter Worby (& wife Trish), and Terry Worby (& wife Nora), sister-in-law Joyce Brown (& husband Ron) along with numerous nieces, nephews & dear friends. Susan is predeceased by her parents Audrey & Earle Worby, her mother & father-in-law Helen & Alva Toews, her older brother David Worby & brother-in-law Russell Toews. Susan was raised in Montreal until the age of 17 when she moved with her family to Regina. It was there she met Terry and they fell in love & got married. After a few years in Calgary they moved to Linden in May of 1974 where they purchased a beautiful acreage. Susie purchased Toews Agencies Insurance which she ran for 25 years. Susie was very active with the Linden Community Association, the Chamber of Commerce & for over 10 years was in charge of the Sports Day Breakfast. She was a very present & loving mother & wife. Some events that were significant in her life were: marriage to Terry June 5, 1971; the births of her three children, Kim, Starla & Nathan who she loved with all her heart, the loss of their home to fire in January of 1989, & her successful battle against cancer in 1993. Susan was a very strong & determined woman. She was known for her bubbly personality, love of God & competitive spirit. In 2010 Susan was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's. She faced this bravely & walked this journey with Terry unwaveringly by her side. In March 2015 Susan moved to Westview where she received exceptional care from the staff. Nathan was a regular visitor & Susie loved his visits. Terry was a faithful fixture right until the end when COVID restrictions kept them apart for the first time in their married life. Susan deteriorated rapidly during this 3-month lockdown which was shocking. Susan passed away after spending 2 days being surrounded by her family, cocooned with love, laughter, tears & sharing of beautiful memories. We are so honoured to have shared life with Susie and are grateful for the impact she made on our lives. She will be sorely missed!
